A couple weeks ago Manhattn’s Burgers organized a giveaway upon Instagram and guess what you guys; I was one of the lucky winners. Hooray! Manhattn’s Burgers invited me and two friends to enjoy a meal at one of their restaurants. So earlier this week @the_exploring_chopstick, @jilltjelescrauwaet and I discovered Manhattn’s finest burgers!
About Manhattn’s Burgers
Manhattn’s Burgers is a premium burger chain that started out in Brussels, but sells gourmet burgers inspired by the typical New York Burger style. At the moment you can find restaurants in Brussels (3), Antwerp and Ghent. We decided to have dinner at the Ghent restaurant, which also happened to be the latest addition to the chain. Manhattn’s Burgers Gent is located in a beautifully renovated medieval grain storage warehouse at the Graslei. In my opinion the perfect setting to bring those Meatpacking District vibes to Ghent.
We were each allowed to choose a burger, a side dish and beverage to our liking. @the_exploring_chopstick and I both had the ‘Harlem Chicken Burger’, with marinated grilled chicken, swiss emmental, caramelized onions, lettuce and smokey BBQ sauce. @jilltjelescrauwaet chose the ‘Brooklyn Veggie Falafel Burger’ with homemade falafel, matured cheddar, tomato, lettuce, avocado, Greek yoghurt and mild chili sauce.
The plan was to order the three different kinds of sides to share; the Godfather Fries (Belgian fries), Yankee Fries (sweet potato) and the Big Apple Coleslaw, but unfortunately the sweet potato fries were finished, so we ordered two coleslaws instead.
The food was so good! Especially the burgers! Unlike so many burger spots in Belgium, Manhattn’s Burgers uses the traditional soft brioche buns, based upon the recipe from a Little Italy Bakery and that really makes a difference in comparison to other burgers. We also had a taste of the homemade lemonades, which were very yummy too!
I can really enjoy a fresh and taste burger now and then. Ever since the opening in Brussels a couple years back, I was really curious about Manhattn’s Burgers. Unfortunately I never made it to one of the other restaurants before. Because of that I was very pleased to learn that a Ghent restaurant was opening. And now that I have tasted the burgers, I can honestly say that I have found my new favorite burger place. Can’t wait to go back and have a taste of those sweet potato fries and one of the other burgers!
