My stay at YUP Hotel Hasselt

As you know by now I’m quite the fan of the hotel concepts of Different Hotels. I love how every property has his own character and approach, yet manages to provide the same level of personal service. Each time when staying at ‘Different Hotels, all the staff members were so friendly, that I immediately felt at home and a part of the hotel family. So, when searching for a hotel for my Hasselt adventure, it was a no-brainer that I was going to stay at YUP Hotel Hasselt. YUP stands for young urban professional and is a boutique hotel with a vibrant ‘80s concept. Why don’t I tell you a little bit more about my stay there.

Location

YUP Hotel is conveniently located in the city center of Hasselt. The main shopping area, Quartier Blue and the train station are all located upon walking distance of the hotel. In my opinion, the perfect base for a fun city trip in Hasselt.

Check-in

“Hi, we were expecting you!” Thanks! Such a thoughtful welcome! And to think that we hadn’t even stepped a foot in the door yet! Off to a great start you guys. 😉

Once inside I was immediately blown away by the funky interior. I loved everything; the bright colors, the telephone booth, the cheetahs and the ‘Press here for Champagne’ button. Which I obviously did, what did you expect… Ok, some might call it a bit kitschy, but some is not me! The crazier, the better!

The check-in went super smoothly, as I already did all the pre-registration at home. The only thing to do was to pick up my room key and let them know, what time I would pick-up my breakfast in the morning. So convenient. The lovely receptionist, offered us a welcome bottle of Prosecco to take to the room. Such a lovely treat.

Rooms

There are three room types available at YUP; Cabin Single Room, Cabin Double Room and a Cabin Plus Room. All rooms are equipped with a high quality double bed, flat screen TV and private air conditioning. An open bathroom is also part of the YUP concept. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available around the hotel. I stayed in one of the Cabin Double Rooms and I absolutely loved the black and gold interior details and the cocoon feeling. So cozy! The rooms are compact, but complete. YUP offers all the stylings and comforts of a boutique hotel at friendly motel-prices, so that’s a big plus.

Food & Beverage

YUP is home to Pasta e Pane, a cozy shared-dining restaurant devoted to traditional Italian cuisine. Every single item on the menu is prepared with seasonal, artisanal products… and amore. Lots of amore. As we already made dinner reservations in a restaurant down town, we didn’t eat here. I kind of regretted that in a way, because the smells that came out of the kitchen, where out of this world. Next time, when I’m in Hasselt, I’m definitely eating here. #pinkypromise

Pasta & Pane is also where breakfast is served in the morning. In normal times, there is a breakfast buffet, but because of you know what, that wasn’t the case now. Upon check-in, the receptionist asked what time I wanted to have breakfast. So when I came down in the morning, I had my personal bag with goodies waiting for me. Breakfast included croissants, chocolate breads, sandwiches, pistolets, yoghurt, fruits and cold cuts like ham, cheese, salami and Brie. Orange juice was included in the bag, and we could take as much coffee as we wanted from the machine. What a great way to start the day!
